Mindfulness Cue #1: How Is Your Concept Of Time Going?

With the days feeling like they’re being moulded together, our perception of time is becoming off centred and unbalanced. We’re here to give you 3 tips on how to get unstuck and differentiate your days!

1. First of all… Go get dressed for your day.

There is a fine line of difference between comfort and laziness. Put energy into getting dressed for your day with different outfits every day, then change into something different for your exercise/walks. Alternate your PJ’s during the week. Through this, you will have small obligations for your week to keep you active – like doing the washing as well as validate your sense of self-love. Apply concealer, brush your eyebrows, straighten your hair. Stay proactive for yourself and remember to do all the little things to enhance your day.

2. Actively be present in all that you do.

This is a callout to everyone who is feeling lost with where their day has gone. Set a timer on for 8 minutes and simply sit outside and reflect back on your week as if you were meditating. Sit with stillness and silence and you will feel the length of what 8 minutes feels like when you’re present and actively engaged with time.

8 minutes is roughly 3 songs. A quick shower can take just 1. You would be exhausted in trying to plank for even half a song and imagine the number of pages you could read for all. Remember to actively seek self-awareness. To put it in perspective, if you’re watching your 4th episode for the day and each episode is 45 minutes each.. that right there is 3 hours of your day. Comparing that with a 30-minute walk every day goes beyond value.

3. Set timers for yourself.

Take a moment for yourself to think about your day. Set out a list of goals you want to complete, and estimate a timeframe on how long it should take to mentally schedule your day. Set timers or simply wear a watch, and stay attentive to the time. “I’ve got nothing but time” is a mindset that could impact our concept of time. By taking time for granted, we forget to appreciate the motivation and lose our sense of self.
